When choosing a bouquet there are three main things to consider: bouquet style, color theme, and flower type. Your bouquet should be a reflection of your style and personality, so choose a combination that appeals to you.
Bouquet Styles
There are many different styles of bridal bouquets, including round, hand-tied, cascade, presentation, nosegay, and pomander.

The most commonly seen bouquets are either round or its looser version, hand-tied. Round bouquets are tightly arranged to achieve a neat, globular shape. They typically contain 3 or fewer types of flowers and are fastened by wrapping the stems securely with ribbon. A hand-tied bouquet has a far looser look and often contains a greater variety of flowers. Greenery is also generally incorporated. Hand-tied bouquets are just that, wrapped with ribbon leaving a small portion of the stems exposed.

Cascade, presentation, nosegay, and pomander are less typical, but equally as lovely. Cascade bouquets are arranged in a hand-held base with the flowers and greenery spilling down in the form of a waterfall. It is the most formal and elegant of the bouquets. Presentation bouquets have long stems that are wrapped with ribbon and laid across the bride's arm. A nosegay bouquet is very similar to the round, but generally smaller and more compact. A pomander is made of flowers arranged in a ball and suspended by a ribbon, very similar to a kissing ball.

Color Theme
The color theme for your flowers should take a few things
into account: your preference, the season, and the bridesmaids' dresses. Your bouquets can be one color or a combination of many. Additional greenery isn't considered a color but can add another layer to your bouquets. Finally, consider whether you want your bouquet the same as or different from your bridesmaids.
Flower Type
The types of flowers you choose can be heavily influenced by the bouquet style and color theme that you chose. Some bouquet styles work best with certain types of flowers. Additionally, some flowers may not be available in all colors. Season can also have an impact on flower type. In today's world, most flowers can be acquired during any season; however, the season will impact the cost and some flowers will just look out of place in the off-season. Of course, the decision should ultimately come down to which flowers appeal to you.
